49ers signing safety George Odum to a two-year extension
Morgan Tencza-USA TODAY Sports

NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reports that, according to the player's agent, the San Francisco 49ers are signing safety and special teams contributor George Odum to a two-year, $10 million extension that could reach $10.8 million. Initially signed through the 2024 season, this extension will keep him under contract through 2026.

The Indianapolis Colts signed Odum (6-1, 202) as an undrafted free agent out of Central Arkansas in 2018. Last season, he recorded 12 tackles in 11 game appearances, per Pro Football Reference.

Odum, 30, signed a three-year contract with the 49ers in 2022. In 2023, he played 196 snaps on special teams but spent time on the injured reserve list from November 27 through January 20 due to a torn biceps.

In his six NFL seasons with the Colts and 49ers, Odum has accumulated 184 tackles, including a tackle for a loss, two quarterback hits, five passes defensed, three interceptions, and four forced fumbles in 93 game appearances, with 10 starts. He earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2020 and second-team All-Pro honors in 2022.
