With Rodrigo Blankenship missing a 42-yard game winning field goal after shanking two kick-offs out of bounds, it is time to look into some new kickers to “compete” with him.

3 New Kickers to Replace Rodrigo Blankenship

Mike Badgley

We could re-sign Mike Badgley who kicked for us last season. According to NFL.com, Badgley played twelve games for the Colts last season. In those twelve games he hit 18 of his 21 tries. He missed two kicks between 30-39 yards. And he missed one from 40-49, where Blankenship missed from today.

Badgley has a career kicking percentage of 80.5%, is that enough for the team to look at him again? My guess is probably not. After letting him go once, I doubt the Colts will return to that well.

Chris Naggar

The Cowboys waived Naggar in May. Naggar kicked off his career last May as an undrafted free agent with the Jets, only to be waived in the middle of the preseason. After latching on to the Browns’ practice squad, the team elevated him for Week 16 action at Green Bay, where he made one of two field-goal attempts and one of two point-after tries.

The Cowboys eventually signed Naggar to a reserve/future contract in early February, but released him in May.

Taylor Bertolet

Bertolet is a journeyman to say the least. He has changed teams eleven times since 2016, both in the NFL and the AAF. He has been signed for the Rams, Broncos, Jets, Panthers, and the Vikings.

The Colts could use anyone at this point and this random guy could possibly be him.

Brian Johnson

Johnson played college football at Virginia Tech and signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He has also been a member of the New Orleans Saints and Washington Football Team.

Johnson played his colligate career at Virginia Tech. He finished his collegiate career with 54 field goals on 71 attempts (76.1%) and he hit all 131 extra points he attempted.

Johnson is ten for ten in his NFL career and he has the leg for the long ones. His longest in the NFL has been 52 yards. He could be the possible replacement and the future for the Colts.
