Warriors' Otto Porter Jr. not expected to play Game 5 vs. Mavericks

The Golden State Warriors are likely to be without one of their key bench pieces for the second playoff game in a row on Thursday when facing the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5. The Warriors are leading in the Western Conference Finals 3-1 and will be making their second attempt at closing out Dallas.

Porter Jr. suffered his injury during Golden State's Game 3 win on Sunday. Without the ninth-year pro available for Tuesday's contest, the Mavs staved off elimination with a 119-109 victory in Game 4.

The Georgetown product averaged 8.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 22.2 minutes per game across 63 contests (15 starts), while posting a .464/.370/.803 shooting line during his first season with the Dubs in 2021-2022. Porter Jr. has posted 5.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 20.7 minutes per contest across 13 postseason games with the club.

The third-overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Porter Jr. was strong off the bench in Game 1, scoring 10 points and adding six rebounds, while going five-for-seven from the field in 23 minutes of play. In Game 2, Porter Jr. was a perfect four-for-four from the field (one-for-one on three-pointers) and finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
