Trendon Watford and Harry Giles III's contracts get guaranteed by the Nets

Trendon and Harry need to step in for Day’Ron

With Day’Ron’s knee strain, the Nets will rely on Watford and Giles to play some backup big minutes. The combination of Nic Claxton and Sharpe has been reliable and potent all season, but losing the latter is a big blow to the rotation.

Both Trendon and Harry do not have the innate rebounding talent that Day’Ron has; this duo must play well to help Clax get valuable rest. Producing from big men has not been an issue this season because of the former North Carolina Tar Heel playing off the bench, but now, they are dealing with a huge issue if he’s out for a long time.

What both players bring to the table

Watford brings a unique blend of playmaking and scoring as a power forward or a small-ball center. He has a reliable floater that is useful in the pick-and-roll, but he also has the vision to thrive as a secondary playmaker in the short roll. Trendon is also one of the most vocal players on the team, so expect him to make an impact whenever Coach Jacque Vaughn calls him.

On the other hand, Giles is one of the most energetic guys on the Nets roster. He can’t rebound as well as Sharpe, but you can expect the former Duke Blue Devil to work hard. He has only played a handful of games this year, but this is his opportunity to carve out a regular spot in the rotation while Day’Ron is out.

Nets fans are disappointed with what happened to Sharpe, but thankfully, the roster always plays with the next-man-up mentality.
