USA TODAY Sports

Jalen McDaniels is coming off the best season of his four-year NBA career.

The 25-year-old spent time with both the Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 33.2% from the three-point range in 80 regular season games.

On Thursday, the Toronto Raptors announced that they had signed McDaniels.

Innovate Sports, who represent McDaniels, tweeted out the details of his new contract with the Raptors.

Via Innovate Sports: "Congratulations to Jalen McDaniels for signing a two-year, $9.3M deal with the @raptors!

Jalen, the 52nd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, continues to defy the odds and resumes building a successful long term career as he takes another step forward with the Toronto Raptors."

McDaniels was the 52nd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of San Diego State and has career averages of 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 46.5% from the field and 34.5% from the three-point range in 198 regular season games (he has also played in eight NBA Playoff games).

The 76ers were the third seed in the Eastern Conference but lost to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the NBA Playoffs (after sweeping the Brooklyn Nets in the first round).

As for the Raptors, they were the ninth seed in the east but lost in their first play-in tournament against DeMar DeRozan and the Chicago Bulls

Since winning the 2019 NBA Championship, they have only been able to win one Playoff series.
