Timberwolves star cleans up yet another controversy

Anthony Edwards spent Monday morning cleaning up yet another controversy after recently landing in hot water for comments he made to a woman, appearing to show him telling her to get an abortion.

The Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star shooting guard's post relates to an alleged text message thread between him and a woman regarding her pregnancy announcement.

According to a report by ESPN's Jamal Collier, the 22-year-old Edwards was tagged in a post on social media, which included a conversation via leaked text messages. The conversation allegedly shows a photo of a positive pregnancy test and responses from Edwards that say "hell nawl can't do dis" and "Get a abortion lol."

Per Collier, it also includes a photo of a $100,000 wire transfer with texts saying "I will send you money to help you out" and "you got da money whats the hol up."

The 2020 first overall pick has been a part of Minnesota's 19-5 start (which puts it at the top of the Western Conference). However, this isn't the first scandal that Edwards has been involved in during his short career.

The NBA fined the former Georgia Bulldog $40,000 in September 2022 after he made homophobic comments in a video posted to his Instagram account. In April, Edwards was criticized after being caught on video running down the players' tunnel and throwing a chair that hit two bystanders.

The incident came after he missed a potential game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer in a Timberwolves playoff game against the Denver Nuggets. The defeat ended Minnesota's season.

Edwards was fined $50,000 in August after an investigation.
