Suns Eyeing Danilo Gallinari After Adding Thaddeus Young
David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

After securing Thaddeus Young, the Phoenix Suns have set their sights on another acquisition, reportedly expressing interest in veteran forward Danilo Gallinari, as disclosed by Duane Rankin at AZCentral.

Gallinari recently became available after being waived by the Detroit Pistons last week, positioning him as a prime candidate for a buyout. Throughout this season, combined between time with the Wizards and Pistons, he has maintained averages of 7.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Furthermore, Gallinari already has connections with multiple players on the Suns. For starters, Devin Booker’s dad played with Gallinari in Italy.

Additionally, Jusuf Nurkic, who played alongside Gallinari during their tenure with the Nuggets from 2014 to 2017, has engaged in a little scouting, as evidenced by his recent tweet.

The two played together on the Nuggets from 2014-2017.

While the Suns possess an available roster spot, enabling them to potentially sign Gallinari without necessitating any roster adjustments, other gaps within the team may warrant attention, particularly the need for a point guard.

With the departure of Jordan Goodwin, the Suns currently lack depth at the point guard position behind Devin Booker. Delon Wright emerges as a potential solution for this season, with the likelihood of a buyout from the Wizards still on the table.

Stay tuned for further updates.
