The Indiana Pacers will waive forward Terry Taylor as a part of a string of transactions coming around the NBA trade deadline, a league source confirms to All Pacers after a report from Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

The Pacers will need roster spots to complete a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks in which Indiana is expected to receive young forward Jordan Nwora as well as veterans Serge Ibaka and George Hill. To open those roster spots, Taylor will be waived along with Goga Bitadze, which was reported by The Athletic.

Taylor, a second year forward who went undrafted in 2021, had a solid rookie season with the Pacers in 2021-22. He averaged 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in 33 appearances, most of which came on a two-way contract. He received a three-year deal from Indiana at the end of that season, though the final two years were not guaranteed.

Taylor had his deal guaranteed for the ongoing season in July of 2022 and played in 26 games for the team this campaign. His minutes per game dropped to 8.8, and he averaged 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. There weren't as many opportunities for the forward as other young frontcourt players — such as Myles Turner, Isaiah Jackson, Jalen Smith, Oshae Brissett, and Aaron Nesmith — got playing time.

Taylor finishes his Pacers tenure with averages of 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 59 games. He proved to be an excellent offensive rebounder in his two seasons with the franchise.

Taylor retweeted a tweet thanking him for his time in Indiana and liked many others. He removed the Pacers from his bio on the app as well, which suggests that he has been informed about the upcoming move.

The Pacers will have to make a few more roster tweaks to sort out their team ahead of their upcoming trade with the Bucks. Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star reported that Milwaukee is the only team Indiana made a deal with.
