© Alonzo Adams-USA TODAY Sports

LA Clippers star Russell Westbrook is heavily involved in the Los Angeles community. In an Instagram post on Tuesday evening, Westbrook announced a partnership with Target that will build 180 affordable housing units in South Central LA.

Wanting to make an impact where he grew up, Westbrook invests a lot of resources into South Central LA, and will now begin the process of building 180 new affordable housing units in the area.

Speaking with AllClippers before this NBA season began, Westbrook said, “We have this platform, and me personally I really pride myself on trying to be the face of Los Angeles when it comes to our community. I'm from LA, and I feel like it's my duty and my honor to give back to as many people as possible - especially the underserved communities of Los Angeles. I will do everything I can to make sure I continue to fill some of these gaps, whether it's education, whether it's finances, whether it's healthcare. Whatever that may be, I try my best to do the best I can."

Putting actions behind his words, Westbrook has done a lot for the city of Los Angeles, and continues to find new ways to make an impact on the community he grew up in. This latest announcement is one of the several ways Westbrook is making a difference in the community.
