Rockets' Dillon Brooks Exceeding Expectations
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets acquired Dillon Brooks  in a sign-and-trade agreement from the Memphis Grizzlies in July. Some thought that the Rockets paid him too much, but he is living up to his contract through the first four games.

He is one of Houston's five players who is averaging double-digits in points (15.8), but it's his shooting percentages that have been the most impressive. Brooks is shooting 59 percent from the field, which ranks him at 14th in the league.

What is so impressive about this is that the players that are usually near the top in field goal percentages are guys that take the majority of their shots from the paint. But Brooks taking as many jump shots as he does while still shooting 59 percent is what really draws attention.

Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas talked more about Brooks on an episode of his podcast.

"I don't know if anyone respects what Dillon brings," Arenas said at his Gil's Arena Podcast. "But as an offensive player, he's bringing my A-game because I know that if I don't bring my A-game and he shuts me down, I have to hear his mouth... There's only a few players in the league that's bringing out everyone's A-game and he's one of them."

Brooks will have another chance to prove his effectiveness on both ends, as he and the rest of the Rockets will be back in action on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CDT from the Toyota Center.
