Raptors Open Roster Spot Ahead of Training Camp
USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors have opened up a roster spot with training camp just around the corner.

Don't be expecting anything big from the Raptors who announced the organization has waived Kevin Obanor on Thursday afternoon. Obanor, 24, had been signed to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal as an undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech.

Toronto can now sign one more player to an Exhibit 10 deal, allowing the organization to retain that player's G League rights should he fail to make the regular season roster.

As of now, Toronto has 19 players under contract including three two-way players, Javon Freeman-Liberty, Ron Harper Jr., and Markquis Nowell. Jeff Dowtin Jr. is on a non-guaranteed deal that will guarantee should he make the opening day roster. Dowtin is likely competing with Thad Young and Otto Porter Jr. for one roster spot.

Obanor, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.2% from the field and 33.1% from three-point range as a fifth-year senior.

Training camp for the Raptors is set to begin next week in Burnaby, British Columbia, following Media Day on Monday.
