Raptors Add Guard Piece Ahead of Training Camp
USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Raptors have filled their final roster spot ahead of training camp next week.

Darryl Morsell has been added to the squad, the Raptors announced Friday. The news comes just one day after Toronto waived Kevin Obanor. Morsell, 24, will likely be on an Exhibit 10 deal, meaning he’s likely destined for the Raptors 905 this season.

The 6-foot-5 guard was a member of Toronto’s Summer League squad, averaging 7.3 points with 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists across four games for the Raptors. He previously spent last season with the 905 where he averaged 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists while shooting 42.9% from the floor and 24% from behind the arc.

Morsell went undrafted in 2022 as a fifth-year senior. He spent four years at Maryland before transferring to Marquette for his final year of college.

Toronto’s roster is now back up to 20 for training camp with Markquis Nowell, Javon Freeman-Liberty, and Ron Harper Jr. on a two-way contract which will likely mean they too will spend much of the season with the 905. Jeff Dowtin Jr. is the lone player on a traditional non-guaranteed deal ahead of training camp.

The Raptors will open training camp next week in British Columbia following Media Day in Toronto on Monday.
