Pacers to Provide Update on Chris Duarte in Two Weeks
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Pacers shooting guard Chris Duarte has been ruled out at least two weeks with a sprained left ankle, as relayed by Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.

Duarte was originally expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, and that still could be the case. But the next update will come in two.

Duarte, 25, is 6-foot-6 and averaging 8.9 points on 39 percent shooting through the first nine games. He suffered the injury in the first quarter vs. the Heat on Friday.

The vacancy is likely to open the door for even more playing time for sensational rookie guard Benedict Mathurin, who has been coming off the bench.

With Duarte sidelined, it should open up more opportunities for rookie guard Bennedict Mathurin, who has been coming off the bench.

“Losing a player like Duarte, who is capable of scoring on or off the ball isn’t ideal, but Indiana has the depth behind him with Mathurin, who figures to be a big part of the Pacers future going forward,” wrote Jasmyn Wimbish of CBS Sports.
