Pacers send two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis to Kings, land Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield in blockbuster trade

The Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings made a significant trade Tuesday involving a two-time All-Star, a trio of former All-Rookies and a pair of former NBA champions, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The reported deal is the second blockbuster of the day as trade rumors ramp up ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline. The move comes just two days after the Pacers sent Caris LeVert to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Ricky Rubio — who is out for the season with a torn ACL — as well as a lottery-protected 2022 first-round pick and two second-round picks.

Sabonis had back-to-back All-Star campaigns in 2019-20 and 2020-21 and is currently leading Indiana in points (18.9), rebounds (12.1) and minutes per game (34.7), while pacing the club in field goal percentage (58.0%) as well. The 25-year-old big man scored a career-high 42 points in a win over the Utah Jazz last month.

Lamb is in his 10th year in the league and third with the Pacers. The former UConn star has played in 39 contests this season, averaging 7.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 15.7 minutes per game.

Sacramento will be Holiday's eighth team during his nine-season career. The 32-year-old leads Indiana in three-point field goal percentage (37.8%) and has averaged 11.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 28.9 minutes per game across 49 contests this campaign.

The Kings picked Haliburton with the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and after a year that included a pair of Rookie of the Month Awards, the guard earned First-Team All-Rookie honors. Haliburton is currently sixth in the NBA in steals per game (1.7) and 11th in the league at 7.4 assists per contest, while producing 14.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per contest as well.

Hield spent the first half of his first NBA season with the New Orleans Pelicans before being traded to Sacramento in February 2017. The sharpshooter was named First-Team All-Rookie in 2017 and posted his best numbers during the 2018-2019 campaign, averaging career-highs in points (20.7) and rebounds per game (5.0), while shooting a career-best 45.8% from the field and 88.6% from the free throw line.

Thompson was the fourth overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and spent the first nine years of his career there, helping bring the club its first championship in 2016. He averaged double-doubles in back-to-back seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20 and posted 6.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 30 games with the Kings this year.
