New York Knicks Rumors: Underrated $8.2M Asset to Make Huge Decision in Free Agency
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

When you think of the success the New York Knicks are having in the 2023-24 NBA regular season despite a rash of injuries, the likes of Josh Hart and, of course, Jalen Brunson come to mind as saviors of the Knickerbockers. But Isaiah Hartenstein is someone who’s also made a significant impact on the team. He has been giving New York so much value for what he’s earning this season, which is only $8.2 million.

Will Isaiah Hartenstein Leave The New York Knicks in NBA Free Agency?

Hartenstein will be one of the more intriguing free agents in the summer. He’s helped the Knicks greatly this season, especially during the long absence of Mitchell Robinson due to injury. In the 46 starts he made in Knicks uniform to date in the current campaign, Hartenstein has averaged 8.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists with an offensive rating of 139 and a defensive rating of +106. Those numbers check out for a fantastic +12.2 net rating for Hartenstein, who is about to turn 26 in May.

For Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, he believes that Hartenstein will remain with the Knicks beyond this season and thinks New York will be bold enough to send Robinson somewhere else for potential assets.

For now, the most likely scenario seems like Hartenstein re-signing in New York with the Knicks possibly shopping Robinson and pursuing a cheaper backup.

Buy or Sell: Buy Hartenstein wanting to return to the Knicks and that he deserves a raise from his current $8.2 million salary.
