Nets’ Garrett Temple using time in quarantine to study for law school

Garrett Temple is using his unexpected time off to prepare himself for life after basketball.

In an interview this week with YES Network, the Brooklyn Nets guard said that he is using the current period in quarantine to study for the LSAT, the test to gain admission into law school.

“I’ve been practicing for the LSAT prep,” said Temple, per Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News. “I’m a person who’s thought about going to law school when I finish playing, and what’s a better time than now to be able to put in 3-4 hours a day of studying for a test that allows me to get into law school. That’s what I’m doing right now.

“Honestly I’ve thought about it over the past three years, probably,” he added. My dad kinda put a seed in my head. I have my undergrad degree in business, so I was thinking MBA, but my dad was telling me law school is something that’s pretty prestigious, having a law degree, and teaches you to think a different way … I’ve always been a pretty big-time debater. I’m pretty literal. When I get into arguments, you probably just want to stop arguing with me because I’m gonna nitpick every single thing that you say.”

Temple, who is averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this season, will turn 34 later this year. He is also now on his fifth NBA team in as many seasons, so his time in the league may soon be winding down.

One of Temple’s Nets teammates also has innovative plans for post-NBA life, and it is definitely wise to use the current lull to plan for the long-term future.
