Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The legend of Anthony Edwards continues to grow right before our very eyes. The Minnesota Timberwolves star’s latest adversary of choice was none other than Kevin Durant.

Edwards’ T-Wolves got the better of Durant’s Phoenix Suns in a 120-95 Game 1 affair at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Edwards outperformed Durant on the stat sheet and also when it came to in-game trash talk.

The Timberwolves led 71-67 midway through the third quarter in a game that appeared to still be up for grabs. That’s when Edwards flipped the switch.

Edwards fueled a 21-5 run to close out the quarter and bury the Suns by double digits entering the fourth quarter. He scored 14 of his team’s 21 points and shot 6/8 from the field during that span.

One of those shots came against Durant. Edwards drained a triple in KD’s grill and began to talk some serious trash against the former league MVP.

Not long after, Edwards also taunted Suns guard Bradley Beal after drilling a triple in his face as well.Beal got the better of Edwards during the Timberwolves-Suns regular season finale. Ant-Man probably still remembered it happening and got his revenge.

Edwards finished with 33 points on 14/24 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and six assists. Durant also had a strong game with 31 points and seven rebounds on just 17 shot attempts. But Durant’s efforts weren’t enough to outshine Edwards and the Timberwolves.

Anthony Edwards Was Living Out A Dream Of His With Kevin Durant Trash Talk Moment

Edwards was all smiles when he discussed his brief in-game beef with Durant after the game. He called it “one of the best feelings ever” and reminded reporters that KD is his favorite player of all-time.

“I think everybody here knows, that’s my favorite player of all time. So that was probably one of the best feelings ever in my whole life for sure.”

Durant also appeared to enjoy the trash talk more than anything. There was likely a mutual respect between the two stars from different generations.

The two will soon be teammates on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. But until then, Durant and Edwards will continue to battle throughout the rest of the Suns-Timberwolves series.
