Mavs Announce Draft-Night Trade, Send Davis Bertans to Thunder
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Mavericks and Thunder have officially completed a trade that occurred on the night of the 2023 NBA Draft, in which the Mavs sent forward Davis Bertans and the No. 10 overall pick to the Thunder in exchange for the No. 12 overall selection.

So along with Bertans, former Kentucky guard Cason Wallace is officially headed to OKC for his rookie season. Meanwhile, Dallas landed ex-Duke center Dereck Lively II in the draft.

The trade enable the Mavs to get out of Bertans’ multiyear contract and at the time, created a trade exception of about $17 million.

Meanwhile, the Thunder will take on Bertans’ remaining two years of about $33 million — though the second year comes with a partial guarantee ($5 million).
