Mavericks avoid sweep, force Game 5 with Warriors

On Tuesday night, the Dallas Mavericks kept its season alive by defeating the Golden State Warriors 119-109 to avoid a four-game sweep. 

Mavericks guard Luka Doncic led the way, scoring a game-high 30 points. Doncic shot 38.5% (10-for-26) from the field, 27.3% (3-for-11) from three and seven of 10 from the free-throw line. He added 14 rebounds with nine assists, two steals and two blocks.

Power forward Dorian Finney-Smith finished with 23 points, shooting 69.2% (9-of-13) from the field and 57.1% (4-of-7) from three, with six rebounds and two assists. 

Steph Curry led the Warriors in scoring with 20 points shooting 43.8% (7-of-16) from the field and 40% (2-of-5) from three, adding eight assists and five rebounds. 

The Mavericks built a big lead early before fending off a late Warriors' comeback attempt to earn the Game 4 win. 

Leading 28-24 after the opening quarter, the Mavericks outscored the Warriors 34-23 to take a 62-47 lead into the halftime break. 

In the third quarter, Dallas continued to pull away, increasing its lead to 29, 99-70, heading into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the Warriors made a furious comeback, cutting the Mavericks' lead to eight, 110-102, with 3:23 left. Dallas held on for the win, though.

Dallas' offense woke up in Game 4, shooting 50% (41-of-82) from the field and 46.5% (20-of-43) from three.

The Mavericks will attempt to stave off elimination for the second time in Game 5 Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
