Markieff Morris Insists He’ll Get Revenge On Nikola Jokic For 2021 Incident
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Markieff Morris told former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on the “All The Smoke” podcast that he’ll get his revenge on Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic for what happened during the 2021-22 season.

Morris only played in 17 games with the Miami Heat during the 2021-22 season due to the back injury he suffered after Jokic hit him. The NBA suspended Jokic for one game and fined Morris $50,000 for that altercation. Morris hasn’t faced Jokic in a game since the fight.

Jokic put up 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game for the Nuggets last season while shooting 63.2% overall, 38.3% from 3 and 82.2% from the free-throw line. The five-time NBA All-Star registered 58 double-doubles and 29 triple-doubles.

The Nuggets defeated the Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals in five games. In the 2023 playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers and Heat, Jokic averaged 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists. The future Hall of Famer put up 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game in the Finals versus the Heat, proving he’s the best player in the NBA.

The Dallas Mavericks acquired Morris from the Brooklyn Nets last season in the blockbuster Kyrie Irving trade. The veteran averaged 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in eight games with the Mavericks. He’s currently an unrestricted free agent.

Morris has career NBA averages of 10.6 points and 5.0 rebounds in 750 games with the Suns, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Lakers, Heat, Nets and Mavericks.
