Malik Beasley is giving the Milwaukee Bucks a huge lift
USA TODAY Sports

Malik Beasley has been shooting pretty solidly from the three-point range this season. But apart from providing Milwaukee with the needed outside sniping, Malik has also been stinging like a bee on the defensive end.

Milwaukee coach Adrian Griffin said Malik has been giving the Bucks a huge lift as his outside shooting gives the likes of Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo more room to operate.

“Beas is having a phenomenal year, if you look at what.. he’s shooting almost 48 percent from the three. He’s elite at what he does, and I’m happy for a guy like him,” said Griffin.

With Beasley consistently knocking down his shots, opposing teams will have to think twice about sending multiple defenders on Giannis. But Griffin said Malik has also been holding his ground in the defensive end.

“It hasn’t been an easy role for him as far as sometimes I have him on the toughest player on the other side, and he’s taking the toughest challenge, and he’s doing the best he can, he holds it down,” said Griff.

Giving Malik a more prominent role

On the season, Malik is averaging 11.9 points a game. He is shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 48.1 percent from three-point distance.

Proving to be an able shooter, the Bucks are looking for Malik when points are needed, Griffin said. With Beas shooting at a high rate, the Bucks coaching staff is taking it as a challenge to find ways that will get him more involved on the court.

“He is someone that Giannis and Dame and all those guys, they trust Beas on the floor, and they look for him. We have to even do a better job of getting him some more looks because he’s just shooting the ball at a high clip,” Griffin said.
