Lakers to waive DeAndre Jordan to make room for D.J. Augustin, Wenyen Gabriel

The Los Angeles Lakers plan to waive former NBA All-Star center DeAndre Jordan to make room for the additions of guard D.J. Augustin and forward Wenyen Gabriel, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Jordan, 33, spent the first decade of his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers, earning one All-Star nod and two spots on NBA All-Defensive First Team during his time with the team. But the Lakers were his fourth team since 2018 after stops with the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, and Brooklyn Nets.

In 32 games with the Lakers, Jordan averaged 12.8 minutes and a career-low 4.1 points with 5.4 rebounds per game. Even with Anthony Davis sidelined, Jordan has seen his role with Los Angeles shrink in recent months with the center scoring just 10 points for the team since Christmas.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Philadelphia 76ers plan to be "aggressive in pursuit" of Jordan

Augustin, 34, is a longtime veteran who has played for 10 different NBA teams before the Lakers. Most recently, he played 34 games for the Houston Rockets before he was waived earlier in February.

Gabriel, 24, made his NBA debut with the Sacramento Kings in 2019 and has played with four other teams, as well.
