Lakers’ D’Angelo Russell Thinks LeBron James Can Play Several More Years
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell thinks superstar LeBron James can play several more years in the NBA.

LeBron is the oldest player in the NBA. He’s 39 years old and this season is his 21st campaign as a pro.

However, The King is still playing at a high level.

LeBron is averaging 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 7.9 assists this season while shooting 52.5% from the field, 40.8% from 3 and 73.6% from the free-throw line. The four-time MVP is 16th in the NBA in points, 15th in points per game, eighth in assists and seventh in assists per game.

A four-time Finals MVP, LeBron can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his 2024-25 player option with the Lakers worth $51.4 million. According to NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN, The Akron Hammer would like to finish his career with the Lakers.

“On LeBron James, look I can’t sit here and really tell you I know what LeBron wants out of life,” Lowe said on his podcast. “Everything I’ve heard for years, including today, is if he has his druthers, he would like to finish his career with the Lakers. There are pipe dream scenarios out there where like well Philly has all this cap space. Could he opt in and ask for a trade to Philly? I haven’t heard that those things are real. I think he wants to finish his career a Laker.”

LeBron is nine points away from becoming the first player in NBA history to score 40,000 career points. He will reach the 40,000-point mark tomorrow (3/2) against the Denver Nuggets.

“No one has ever done it,” LeBron said. “And for me to be in this position at this point and time in my career, I think it’s pretty cool. Does it sit at the top of the things I’ve done in my career? No. But does it mean something? Of course. Absolutely. Why wouldn’t it?”
