Lakers Close to Signing Sterling Brown to 10-Day Deal

The Lakers are nearing a 10-day contract agreement with guard/forward Sterling Brown, according to Shams Carania and Jovan Buha of The Athletic.

Brown, 27, is 6-foot-5 and appeared in 49 games with the Mavericks last season, averaging 3.3 points and 3.0 rebounds, shooting 38 percent from the field. He was waived by the Thunder in October.

The younger brother of former NBA guard Shannon Brown , Sterling Brown has also spent time with the Bucks and Rockets.

Teams became eligible to start signing free agents to 10-day contracts on Thursday and the Lakers have been looking for assistance. Per Krysten Peek of Yahoo Sports, they have also worked out free agent shooting guard Tyler Dorsey.

Basically, the Lakers are seeking additional outside shooting and they have decided to go the free agent route — for now — in their hopes to find it.

”Positionally, the Lakers’ biggest need is greater depth at both forward spots, as they sorely need productive two-way players with depth who are taller than 6-foot-6 and can hit 3-pointers at a high rate of accuracy,” wrote Zach Stevens of Lakers Daily.

The Los Angeles Lakers are progressing toward a 10-day contract with five-year NBA veteran G/F Sterling Brown, sources tell me and @jovanbuha. Brown has played for Raptors 905 in G League this season and brings wing depth to the Lakers.
