Kyle Lowry Calls Toronto His ‘Home’

Every time Kyle Lowry returns to Toronto it is a special moment.

The 38-year-old returned to Scotiabank Arena on March 31 as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Lowry signed a $2.8 million deal with the 76ers for the rest of the season after he was bought out by the Charlotte Hornets.

He got the start in Sunday’s game with Tyrese Maxey out for Philadelphia.

Lowry finished with 11 points and 10 assists as the 76ers beat the Raptors 135-120.

After the game Lowry talked about being back in Toronto, a place where he made a name for himself per TSN’s Josh Lewenberg:

“This is a place I call my second home, pretty much my home. I don’t call it my city, I call it my country. It’s a place that will always be dear to my heart and will be a part of me forever.”

Lowry was an instrumental piece on the Raptors back when they won a championship in 2019. The guard is regarded by many as the Greatest Raptor of All-Time for his efforts in Toronto.

The veteran also talked about joining the 76ers mid-season, per Lewenberg:

“They accept me for me, that’s why it’s such a great fit. It’s been a really smooth transition and I’m enjoying it. I’m having fun…It’s been a blessing to be home, playing for the hometown team and having an opportunity to represent my city”

As Lowry’s career winds down, he is hoping to win another championship next to former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse.

Lowry wants to retire as a member of the Raptors

Once he officially calls it a career, Lowry did express his desire to sign a one-day contract with Toronto and retire as a member of the Raptors.

That would be quite the ending to his illustrious career.
