Kristaps Porzingis gives positive update on injury status, timeline for return

While Boston Celtics forward Kristaps Porzingis remained sidelined with a calf injury during the team's 124-97 win over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night, it appears there may be some good news on the horizon. Porzingis addressed his injury status and timeline while speaking with Chris Forsberg of NBC Sports Boston and sounds close to a return.

"The calf is feeling good. I think, very soon. very soon. Not 100 percent sure if it's going to be next game, but hopefully right after that," Porzingis told Forsberg.

Porzingis last played in the team's matchup with the Orlando Magic on November 24. While he's missed two games, the Celtics have handled business without their talented forward, defeating the Atlanta Hawks 113-103 and the aforementioned Bulls by 27.

While it's no guarantee he'll be back within the next game against the Philadelphia 76ers or on December 4 against the Indiana Pacers, Porzingis sounds optimistic. He's been a strong addition to this Celtics team and has averaged 18.9 points on a career-best 54.7 percent shooting from the field. Porzingis has also averaged 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 blocks per game while logging 30.3 minutes per game this season.
