Knicks view Myles Turner as 'someone worth pursuing'?

The New York Knicks surprised a lot of people with their stellar 2020-21 showing last year. As a result, expectations were sky-high coming into the 2021-22 NBA season.

Thus far the team has not delivered. More than a third of the way through the year, New York sits at 17-18 and ninth in the Eastern Conference. Clearly changes need to be made.

One potential option: Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, the prospect of a Turner to New York swap continues to linger in the air.

“I look at somebody like Myles Turner as a possibility for this club because he can be had, acquired, for something that is short of a crazy package that you would have to put together for a superstar,” he said.

“Maybe there is a middle ground that can be met between the Knicks and Pacers and Myles Turner. We know that there are decision-makers with the Knicks who see Turner as someone worth pursuing.”

So far this season Turner is averaging 13.6 points (second-best mark of his career), 7.4 rebounds (career high) and 2.8 blocks (second-best mark of his career) per game. He is also doing his damage on a career-high 53.2 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc (seco^nd-best mark of his career).

Turner would immediately upgrade the Knicks.

The main obstacle in the way here is the fact that the Los Angeles Lakers are making a legit play for Turner’s services, as are the Golden State Warriors.

That means if the Knicks want him, they’re going to need to offer something real for him. What will the Knicks ultimately bring to the bargaining table? Time will tell.
