Key Player Reveals Reason for Returning to Clippers
USA TODAY Sports

The LA Clippers were able to re-sign veteran big man Mason Plumlee in free agency, despite him having bigger offers elsewhere. Speaking with the media on Friday, Plumlee confirmed that he did in fact have bigger offers from other teams, but wanted to stay with the Clippers and compete for an NBA Championship.

When Plumlee arrived with the Clippers at last season's trade deadline, he spoke openly about how much it meant to him to play for a team with championship aspirations. An NBA veteran, Plumlee has been on a lot of teams during his career, but not many of them had a legitimate chance to win it all. Feeling this Clippers group has what it takes, Plumlee wanted to remain in LA.

It was not long ago when the Clippers were not considered an attractive free agent destination, but chairman Steve Ballmer has helped revitalized the culture to make this somewhere players want to be. Having re-signed both Plumlee and Russell Westbrook to deals considered below their market value, the Clippers feel great about what they have been able to do in free agency so far.

Likely not done making moves this summer, the Clippers still feel a move or two away from where they want to be. It was been a productive start to free agency for LA, but they will likely still be active leading up to training camp.
