Jamal Crawford Shares His Mt. Rushmore Of Ball-Handlers
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Jamal Crawford was never considered to be one of the best players in the NBA, but there was one aspect of the game that he was arguably the best at, ball-handling. Crawford was a magician with the ball in his hands and during his recent appearance on The Big Podcast with Shaq, he was asked to share his Mount Rushmore of ball-handlers, excluding himself.

"Kyrie (Irving), Isiah (Thomas)... original Detroit Pistons, White Chocolate (Jason Williams),... Allen Iverson."

Shaquille O'Neal was a bit surprised that Tim Hardaway Sr. didn't make it in. Crawford stated that Hardaway was great, but Iverson mesmerized you and was better.

While Crawford came up with a pretty good Mount Rushmore of ball-handlers here, NBA fans were not too happy with it.

One thinks Stephen Curry should have made it, "The Steph disrespect when it comes to handles is insane."

A fan said Pete Maravich should have made it over Thomas, "Pete Maravich might have had something to say about this. Swap Isaiah out for Pistol Pete."

Another fan would take out Thomas for Curry, "Switch the #1 certified MJ hater out and put in Curry"

One thought the list was good but gave a shout-out to Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis, "This is honestly a solid list. Two people that I like to mention that nobody else will is Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis."

A fan said Rod Strickland was a better ball-handler than Thomas, "R. Strickland > Zeke on handles."

Isiah Thomas certainly was the least popular selection here, with many fans wanting him to be replaced, but he truly was an incredible ball-handler. The problem here is that there have just been so many great ones that some big names will inevitably get left out when you narrow it down to just four.

We had ranked the 40 greatest ball-handlers of all time and all four players that Crawford mentioned featured in the top three tiers. Kyrie Irving stood alone in the first tier, with Allen Iverson, Thomas, Crawford, and Curry in the second one. Williams was the only one down in the third tier, but when you consider O'Neal told Crawford that White Chocolate better have been on that list, it tells you just how good he was.

Allen Iverson Believes Kyrie Irving Is The Greatest Ball-Handler Of All Time

Iverson and Irving were the two selections made by Crawford that no one really seemed to have an issue with, and it's for good reason. They are widely regarded as two of the very best we have seen in NBA history and Iverson called Irving the greatest ball-handler ever.

“[Kyrie Irving] is the best. Steph [Curry] handle is crazy. Steph, his jumper gets you over. He [crosses] half-court and can let it go. (Kyrie) has the best handles ever. Kyrie will have you beat and then bring it back and play with it, he toys with people. He can still just go, but if he feels like playing with you.”

It does feel at times that Irving just toys with people a little bit. He is just so skilled as a ball-handler and if Iverson says the Dallas Mavericks guard is the best ever, who are we to argue?
