Damian Lillard reveals which team he wants to be traded to

Damian Lillard was sending a message by dancing to "Miami" after all.

One week ago, Lillard went on Instagram Live dancing to Will Smith's "Miami" and Whitney Houston's "I Want To Dance With Somebody," which features the line "I want to feel the heat with somebody" in its chorus. While his agent insisted it was "just a coincidence," it now seems like Lillard was telegraphing a message to the Miami Heat.

Lillard had been sending Portland mixed signals, saying he wanted the team to sign Golden State's Draymond Green while also saying he didn't want to wait for a rookie to develop. Now he's finally asked out of Portland—and asked into the Miami Heat.

Miami's moves have indicated that they were making room for the seven-time All-Star. They let incumbent point guard Gabe Vincent walk in free agency, sent Max Strus to Cleveland in a sign-and-trade and dumped Victor Oladipo's contract on Oklahoma City.

While Miami's trade package for Lillard might not be the strongest, Lillard is hoping that his 11 years with Portland, which topped out with a sweep in the 2019 Western Conference Finals, will get Portland to honor his wishes and send his talents to South Beach. He'll leave as one of the greatest Blazers in history, just behind ten-time All-Star Clyde Drexler.

For Miami, it looks like they'll acquire another All-Star despite a relative lack of assets. Pat Riley and company have landed Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry in recent years, and it looks like Dame Time might be dancing his way to Miami next.
