Could the OKC Thunder Shop Vasilije Micic in the Trade Market?
USA TODAY Sports

The Oklahoma City Thunder is 11-6 through 17 games this season. They've seen some early success this season and the rotation has seen some consistency. One player who might not have played as much as expected ahead of the season is Vasilije Micic.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype wrote about trade candidates from each of the 30 NBA teams, listing Micic and Davis Bertans as two players who could see themselves in the trade market this season.

"As for Thunder trade candidates, two international players are possibilities: Davis Bertans and Vasilije Micic. Bertans has been seldomly used, and rookie Cason Wallace has leaped Micic, a two-time Euroleague champion and Final Four MVP, in the rotation," Scotto wrote.

As it pertains to Bertans, he could be a big-impact NBA veteran as the regular season gets closer to a close, assuming the Thunder is still in playoff position. It makes more sense for the Thunder to move on from Micic, though.

"Micic has drawn trade interest from several teams in the past, including the Chicago Bulls, who could use help at point guard," Scotto continued.

Of Thunder's 17 games, Micic has appeared in under half of them. With eight games played, Micic is averaging 3.4 points and 2.8 assists per game in 12.3 minutes per game. Coming over having accomplished just about everything he could in Europe, a trade would allow Micic a position to play more minutes and gain even more NBA experience.

As Scotto mentioned, it does hurt Micic that Cason Wallace has been an impact player early on, and guard minutes aren't easy to come by in Oklahoma City.

It'll be interesting to see if the Thunder are active in the trade market come February and if teams look into trading for Micic. The Thunder could also use the depth barring any injuries later in the season.
