Could a familiar face return to the Milwaukee Bucks at the trade deadline?

The Milwaukee Bucks' point-of-attack defense remains problematic, as many expected it would be since Jrue Holiday got swapped for Damian Lillard in the offseason. Fortunately for Milwaukee, the team has a chance to shore up its defense at the trade deadline on February 8. It even presents an opportunity to welcome home a beloved member of the team last season.

Homecoming for Carter?

Jevon Carter was a valued member of the Bucks last season, providing the team with tenacity on the defensive end and precise perimeter shotmaking on the other. After averaging 8.0 points on 42 percent shooting from three-point land, Carter leveraged his superb play into a brand-new three-year contract with the Chicago Bulls last summer.

However, Carter's hometown homecoming has not gone as planned, as he has been used sparingly by Bulls coach Billy Donovan. He's played in 49 games—missing two due to DNP designations—and is averaging only 5.1 points in 13 minutes. His confidence from beyond the arc has waned, as he's shooting only 33 percent from long distance. However, a change in scenery might help Jevon regain his shooting stroke.

Upgrade the Bucks' defense

Carter's return to Milwaukee would immediately upgrade its defense, as he's been a solid perimeter defender throughout his career. He has the quickness and athleticism to guard elite guards and would fit seamlessly into the Bucks' frenzied defensive scheme.

"Upgrading the rotation's point-of-attack defense with someone who can also play next to Damian Lillard remains the Milwaukee Bucks' biggest need," Dan Favale wrote.

While the Bucks are reportedly monitoring numerous players like Ayo Dosunmu, Delon Wright, and Kris Dunn, Carter would arguably be the best fit for their defensive needs.

"Someone like Carter, a familiar face, is more realistic. The Bucks can use Connaughton and that Portland pick to try bagging his defensive hellfire at the POA as well as his reliable three-point stroke," Favale shared.
