Colin Cowherd bizarrely calls Luka Doncic ‘Carmelo Anthony with a 3-point shot’
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

Colin Cowherd angers the NBA and NFL community with some of his comments. Once again, he stirred controversy with his latest remarks aimed at Dallas Mavericks golden boy Luka Doncic . A segment on his FS1 show had Cowherd comparing Doncic and former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony .

Cowherd pointed out that the only difference between them exists in their three-point shooting ability. He asserted that Doncic has a more refined game and a better range than the ten-time NBA All-Star.

He's sort of Carmelo Anthony with a more refined game, better range. I don't know if I'm getting anything on the other end, I don't know if his teams will succeed in the playoffs, I don't know if he's the greatest teammate, but buckets? This is Melo with a 3-point shot. You're just going to get a lot of points. Colin Cowherd via FS1

Cowherd attempted the comparison to question how much Luka Doncic could impact the game. So far, he has yet to reach the NBA finals just like Carmelo Anthony. Both players could score but have yet to garner huge playoff success. As such, Cowherd believed Luka was Anthony but with range shooting. Fans were enraged due to the fact that Doncic excels in playmaking, and rebounding and has an excellent post-game. Hence, fans felt the comparison did not hold weight.

Doncic now has a great supporting cast, including his incredible partnership on the court with Kyrie Irving. They have a great window to dominate the playoffs. However, Doncic’s playoff success will depend on the team, as he remains one of the best playoff performers in recent memory. Hence, calling Doncic a better ‘three-point shooting Anthony’ while comparing their playoff record holds no merit.

Luka Doncic makes a bold claim about Caitlin Clark

Despite being called a ‘three-point shooting Carmelo Anthony,’ Luka Doncic believed an elite women’s college basketball player could shoot better than him. Iowa Hawkeyes sensation Caitlin Clark has amazed not only the fans but Doncic as well.

During the conversation with reporters, Doncic alluded to the fact that Clark had better shooting skills than him. The Slovenian star had only praiseworthy words to say about Clark.

That's the women's Steph Curry. She can shoot it better than me. Luka Doncic via pre-game interview

Doncic might not be far from the truth as she set a new NCAA all-time scoring record this season when she passed the legendary Pete Maravich. Doncic is not a bad three-point shooter, but he knew what “Caitlin Effect” brings to games. Furthermore, Clark is now the all-time leader in three-pointers made in Division 1.
