Edmond Sumner is coming off a year where he appeared in 53 regular season games for the Brooklyn Nets.
He averaged 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 46.1% from the field and 35.6% from the three-point range.
This summer, Sumner became a free agent, and he signed a deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
However, the team has now signed NBA Champion Ish Smith, and in a related move they waived Sumner.
Via Hornets PR: "October 24, 2023 – Charlotte Hornets President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today the team has signed free agent guard Ish Smith and waived guard Edmond Sumner. Per team policy, terms of Smith’s deal were not disclosed."
