Allen Iverson Says Luka Doncic Is The Next Face Of The NBA

Love him or hate him, you cannot deny Luka’s game. In just five years in the NBA, he has emerged as one of the best players in the world with averages of 28.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game for his career.

As a star from the very start, Luka has thrived in the NBA and he’s at a level at 25 that most players never reach in their prime. On the court, Doncic can do it all and his skills as a ball handler, playmaker, and scorer make him one of the most well-rounded players in the game.

The highlight of Luka’s career so fari probably his 73-point game back in January, which stands as the third most points scored in a game in NBA history. 

But until Luka can advance deep into the playoffs, and win a championship for the Mavericks, he will never be ready to take up the mantle as face of the league. This season, however, could be the turning point for Dallas.

The Mavericks Are Serious Contenders In The Western Conference

Last year, we saw the Mavs flame out after trying and failing, to make the play-in with Luka and Kyrie. Somehow, they just didn't have enough to stay alive in the West and they came into this season with many unanswered questions.

But after acquiring players like Derrick Jones Jr. Daniel Gafford, and Dante Exum, the Mavericks revamped their supporting case and they’ve been unstoppable ever since. With a 50-30 record this season, the Mavericks currently rank 5th in the West and are just one game behind the Clippers.

With averages of 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.2 rebounds per game, Luka’s MVP campaign is powering the Mavericks to a top-six finish. Of course, Kyrie Irving has also been doing his part with a stat line of 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game on 49% shooting.

Together, Luka and Kyrie can pull the Mavericks through a tough Western Conference bracket and the way they look right now has put the entire NBA world on notice. This spring, for better or worse, we’ll find out who this Mavericks team is and how serious they are about going toe-to-toe with the likes of Denver, Minnesota, and Oklahoma City.

At the very least, with Luka and Kyrie, the Mavericks have a chance against any team in the West and nobody will be surprised if they make a deep post-season run in the near future.
