76ers handle Raptors with ease, 112-97, to take 2-0 series lead

The Philadelphia 76ers are up 2-0 in an NBA playoff series against the Toronto Raptors after a 112-97 win in Game 2 on Monday.

The 76ers led by as many as 29 in the win, although the Raptors managed to cut the lead to 11 in the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run.

NBA MVP finalist Joel Embiid finished with 31 points and 11 rebounds in the win after making 11 free throws in the first quarter alone. While he appeared to injure his ankle just before halftime, Embiid still returned to score 12 points in the second half.

Philadelphia coach Doc Rivers reached 100 career postseason victories with the win, and is now tied with Larry Brown for fourth all-time in playoff wins. Only Phil Jackson (229), Pat Riley (171), and Gregg Popovich (170) are the only coaches with more postseason wins.

Despite jumping out to an 11-2 lead in the opening minutes, the Raptors found themselves in foul trouble early with seven fouls in the first eight minutes of the game. Prior to the series, Embiid said he wasn't worried about Toronto's "reckless" defense.

Game 3 in Toronto is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET.
