76ers C Joel Embiid remains hopeful to return this season
Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid told reporters on Thursday that he still intends to return to the court this season.

"That's the plan. Obviously, everything has to go right as far as getting as close as I'm supposed to be," said Embiid, who was to be re-evaluated after four weeks following a procedure to his lateral meniscus in his left knee on Feb. 6.

Embiid, however, dismissed the notion of a target date or a timeline for his return.

"It all depends on how the body reacts, especially once you start ramping up. It all depends on how it feels. If it feels great, let's do it. If it doesn't feel like it's right, then we have to keep going (with the rehab)."

Embiid, 29, was on pace to lead the league in scoring for the third straight season. The reigning NBA MVP was averaging 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.8 blocks in 34 games.
