Watch: Dale Earnhardt Jr. claims he ‘never made money’ as a team owner in NASCAR
Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. has always been outspoken about the financial drawbacks and issues that comes with owning a racing team in NASCAR. This is because of the current nature of NASCAR and also the reason why none of the teams are profitable in nature.

While speaking about this topic on his podcast Dale Jr. Download, the 49-year-old revealed his thoughts on the agreement between NASCAR and the teams. Dale Earnhardt Jr. detailed how he’s never made money racing as a team owner, including his Xfinity team JR Motorsports, and how none of the teams are profitable following the agreement.

I've never made any money racing. I would love to know where somebody is racing a racecar and making money. It ain't happened in my life and every Cup team I've known didn't make money. But the teams think that's possible, and the teams think that's realistic and should be happening, but that's so foreign to me. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on the Dale Jr. Downlaod Podcast.

The NASCAR legend seemed to be pretty frustrated with the overall situation and was sympathetic toward teams as he knows how much money is spent behind the scenes. The entire financial situation of NASCAR teams seems to be pretty tricky following the new charter agreement, NASCAR will definitely want to look into this to avoid issues in the future.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. discusses Denny Hamlin’s stance on profitability

According to the 49-year-old 23XI Racing co-owner, Hamlin is pro teams and is doing his utmost to ensure teams start becoming profitable.

I could talk to Denny about this forever and he's very opinionated about it. He's pro teams. He's going to be pro charters, pro teams owning charters, he's going to be for all of those things. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer revealed how he’s had this profitability conservation multiple times with Hamlin and how he’s been working behind the scenes to ensure teams earn profit. Only time will tell whether the financial situation for the teams will improve soon.
