Chase Elliott spill the beans on a ‘main reason’ behind his decision to become a racer and it’s not Bill Elliott
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Chase Elliott is the most followed driver among the NASCAR fandom and has been the winner of Most Popular driver of the year award since 2018. The No:9 Chevy driver have been winning the award regardless of his performnace as he won it in 2023 despite last year being hsi worst ever and Ryan Blaney , who is a fan favorite winning the title.

Chase Elliott came into NASCAR following his father, ex-Cup Series champion Bill Elliott and with in short span of years has secured a spot in the list of top-75 drivers of all time in NASCAR. While Bill Elliott was one main reason for him to pursue racing, he was also inspired by the crazy fandom the sports hard especially on tracks such as Bristol.

When I was a kid, Bristol (Motor Speedway) was one of the main reasons I wanted to be a race car driver. That environment was unbelievable. I remember being a kid, going up there, watching the races and they had tickets sold out for like seven years. You couldn’t get a ticket. It was that big of a deal. I mean that’s as good as it gets. Elliott said via Speedway Media.

The love for the track and the energy it gave NASCAR one of it’s star drivers. But it wasn’t obviously just the track that made him take racing as his profession. Growing up around the sport made it one of the most important parts of his life and he had the connection to make it to the top by proving himself by using the opportunities he got wisely.

Chase Elliott’s crew is hopes to get good results soon

The streak of underwhelming results while Willaim Byron and Kyle Larson had already secured playoffs with victories might have been disheartening for the team. But they are not ready to give up and hopes that they could get back to capitalizing on the fast cars they have soon, according No:9 Crew Chief Alan Gustafson.

I hate that we haven’t capitalized on the running position or the speed of our Chevrolets, but I think there’s been some really positive things. Speed in the cars is one and the pit crew’s been really good. The team’s working well. I really like the effort, the positivity and the vibe the team has. So, you just have to trust the process. If you keep focusing on improving, the results will come.

Gustafson said.

Elliott and his crew is determined to get back to winning and consistently fight for top-10s. It’s concerning for the team that they haven’t scored a top-5 in last 14 races and hasn’t scored a top-10 in the first four races of the season. So. Bristol will be good place to make a comeback for him and the team, as it can given an extra momentum boost for the reminder of 2024.
