Bubba Wallace claims he got 'trapped in somebody else’s mess' after all-Toyota crash Talladega

The NASCAR Cup race at Talladega was a huge disappointment for 23XI Racing Bubba Wallace and he was DNFed due to all Toyota crash. What makes it more disappointing is the fact that his teammate Tyler Reddick won the race at the end. Alongside the No:23 Camry, three more Toyota’s were involved in the incident.

In the lap 156 of the race, the Toyota teams were running single file after pitting together, as part of their strategy. Coming to turn-3 on the same lap, Erik Jones losing a balance a bit and John Hunter Nemechek ’s aggressive push of Bubba Wallace, resulted in a mega wreck. Jones, Wallace and the No:11 Camry of Denny Hamlin were collected in the incident.

The ex-Talladega race winner spoke to the media about the crash after getting released from the infield car centre. He admitted that the are disappointed with the poor execution and hate to be part of someone’s mess. Wallace pointed out that the incident is not a good look on Toyota and added that he will work to bounce back from it at Dover.

No, just we were all pushing really hard to keep our line going. We had a plan and just didn’t execute it as well as we should. Hate it for our Leidos team. Look forward to running in these places and then you just get trapped in somebody else’s mess. I hate it. It doesn’t make us look good at all. But all in all we’ll just reset and go to Dover. We’ve got a long way to go. We’re fine, just frustrating.

Erik Jones recalls the incident featuring Bubba Wallace

Jones pointed out that he hate what happened he and the crew at Dega, as they were send to the walls following contact with Wallace. He promised to keep rolling despite the dump crash, he is determined to bounce back next week.

I got pretty sideways getting into [Turn] 3 and tried to gather it up and ended up hitting really hard into the wall. It’s unfortunate. I hate it for my team and my guys. Obviously, wanted to have a good run but I’m alright. That’s a good thing. It was a hard hit. At the end of the day, if you’re gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough, so keep rolling.

Erik Jones and Bubba Wallace is going back home unhappy and frustrated. But they have got no time to waste and should focus on the next-weeks race at Dover. At the end of the day getting wrecked is not unusual at Dega.
