Watch: Jessica Eye will still fight despite missing weight, scary weigh-in moment

For the second consecutive fight, UFC flyweight Jessica "Evil" Eye missed weight and left critics speculating if she belongs in the division.

Ahead of last December's UFC 245 show, Eye missed the 126-pound limit by a whopping five pounds. That crime earned her a 30% reduction of her purse, per MMA Fighting. The 33-year-old went on to defeat Viviane Araujo via unanimous decision.

As ESPN's Marc Raimondi wrote, Eye was the subject of a scary moment ahead of Saturday's UFC Fight Night showdown versus Cynthia Calvillo when the Ohio native admitted that she couldn't stand coming off the scale after she missed weight by 0.25 pounds.

Per Raimondi, Eye is still expected to face Calvillo in the main event of the show occurring at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. No fans are allowed to attend because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Eye will again forfeit a percentage of her purse.

Eye holds a professional record of 15-7 and has won four of her last five bouts, but she has no realistic road toward a title match. Roughly 12 months ago, Eye suffered one of the most brutal and highlight-reel-worthy knockouts in UFC history at the foot of flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Heading into Saturday evening, Eye sits at No. 12 in the UFC women's flyweight rankings. Calvillo is No. 10 at strawweight and making her flyweight debut.

Neither Eye nor anyone else seems capable of dethroning Amanda Nunes at bantamweight.
