Fight fans are still anxiously waiting for news regarding a main event for UFC 300, and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping has suggested that an unexpected matchup could headline the highly-anticipated card.

Scheduled to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 13, UFC 300 currently has four confirmed fights but has a long way to go in order to be the kind of must-watch card that UFC CEO Dana White has promised it will be.

The recent addition of former lightweight king Charles Oliveira taking on Armen Tsarukyan was a huge addition to the card , and now Bisping has suggested that UFC 300 could be the perfect event for Brock Lesnar to return and feature in the headlining slot.

"UFC 300, will we see Brock Lesnar on there again?” Bisping asked on his YouTube channel. “It sounds stupid, because Brock Lesnar is no spring chicken, right? He’s 46 years old…Fighters have gone longer, and guess what? When there’s millions of dollars on the line, people will come and fight. And people would love to see Brock Lesnar stepping in there once again.”

One of the biggest stars in the history of the UFC, Lesnar headlined UFC 100 against Frank Mir and returned to the Octagon after nearly five years to take on Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016.

Bisping admits it's unlikely that Lesnar will return to the UFC again after another lengthy layoff, but “The Count” also believes that a matchup between the former heavyweight champion and current interim titleholder Tom Aspinall is exactly the type of main event that fans expect from UFC 300.

“Could you imagine Brock Lesnar vs. Tom Aspinall headlining UFC 300?...Maybe this is just the fan in me, maybe this is just wishful thinking. But Tom Aspinall [versus] Brock Lesnar, that would just be mental. And that is the type of thing I think the UFC are gonna do.”

Currently campaigning for a fight with Jon Jones to try and unify the UFC heavyweight belts, Aspinall is coming off the biggest win of his career at UFC 295 when he knocked out Sergei Pavlovich to win the promotion’s interim heavyweight strap.

A matchup with Lesnar might be one of the few fights that could tempt Aspinall to delay his pursuit of a Jones bout while the latter fighter recovers from a pec injury, but given that Lesnar's return seems unlikely fans will have to continue waiting patiently for news of the UFC 300 main event.
