Tom Aspinall Alleges He Was Recently Offered Stipe Miocic Fight For UFC 300

Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall says the UFC attempted to book an interim title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 300.

Aspinall earned the interim UFC heavyweight title by defeating Sergei Pavlovich by knockout at UFC 295 last November. He took a short-notice fight against Pavlovich following Jon Jones' withdrawal from his scheduled title defense against Miocic.

Aspinall remains in an unusual position atop the UFC heavyweight title picture. Despite earning the interim title, Aspinall won't get the next shot at the lineal champion Jones, who is transfixed on facing Miocic later this year.

As Jones recovers from an injury, the UFC allegedly offered Miocic a fight with Aspinall for UFC 300 in April, which the former titleholder declined.

Tom Aspinall Accuses Stipe Miocic Of Turning Down UFC 300 Bout

In a recent tweet, Aspinall accused Miocic of ducking a UFC 300 clash.

"While we are talking about [Stipe Miocic], my manager was contacted by the UFC asking if I'd like to fight him on April 13th," Aspinall tweeted Tuesday. "I, of course, accepted."

Miocic hasn't addressed Aspinall's claims as of this writing. He responded to Aspinall's recent tweets about the next heavyweight title shot by offering to face Aspinall after a win over Jones.

Aspinall has won 10 of his last 11 fights and is 7-1 inside the Octagon. Before the win over Pavlovich last November, he defeated Marcin Tybura by first-round TKO in London.

Jones vs. Miocic could potentially headline the UFC's annual card during International Fight Week in Las Vegas. Jones recently underwent elbow surgery during his recovery from a torn pectoral muscle.

Aspinall is beginning to feel anxious regarding a return to the Octagon, and while a UFC 300 fight is possible, it apparently won't be against Miocic.
