Steven Seagal Makes Alex Pereira Hard to Kill for UFC 300

Alex Pereira has conquered the UFC and Glory Kickboxing. But with the help of Steven Seagal, perhaps he can not only defend his light heavyweight title but also take on a room full of armed terrorists.

Steven Seagal returned the attention of MMA fans when Alex Pereira released a video to social media showing the 90’s action star giving some pointers to the UFC light heavyweight champion.

In the video, which was originally posted as an Instagram story, Steven Seagal is shown demonstrating an alternative blocking technique. With a member of Pereira’s team serving as a translator, Steven Seagal explains the merits of the elbow led redirection.

In a longer version of their encounter, Steven Seagal shares more striking technique to the Hall of Fame kickboxer and his camp. The “Out for Justice” actor also sings the praises of “Poatan” by claiming to know “he would be great” long before his famed run in the Octagon.

Steven Seagal Returns to Belly of the Beast

The video marks the return of Steven Seagal to the fringes of relevance in mixed martial arts. In 2011, the Aikido practitioner emerged as an unlikely coach to make executive decisions for former champions Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida.

Steven Seagal claimed to have taught Silva, a Muay Thai expert and fifth degree taekwondo black belt, the front kick that knocked out Vitor Belfort at UFC 126.

Later that year Seagal would pat himself on the back for Machida’s knockout of Randy Couture, boasting that he showed the third dan Shotokan karateka a leaping version of the same kick. He unsuccessfully attempted to attach himself to then light heavyweight champ Jon Jones as well.

Pereira will have the chance to show off his new secret moves when he steps on deadly ground against Jamahal Hill in the main event at UFC 300. While “Poatan” does not have the betting lines under siege, he opened as -162 favorite over “Sweet Dreams.”
