'It's Not The First Person He's Bit...' - Anthony Smith & Michael Bisping React To Igor Severino's Bite Of André Lima
David McIntyre-USA TODAY Sports

Igor Severino's bizarre conduct at UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs. Namajunas continues to confound the MMA world.

Midway through the second round of his clash with André Lima, Severino embraced his inner savage, sinking his teeth into Lima's arm. The out-of-nowhere attack prompted the referee to call for the DQ.

The reasoning behind his behavior has unsurprisingly been called into question, especially considering he was looking fairly strong into the fight up until that point.

Even more bizarrely, Lima went out and had the bite mark tattooed soon after the fight.

'He Wasn't Even Getting His A** Kicked' - Michael Bisping On Severino's Bite

During a recent discussion on this past weekend's UFC Fight Night event, Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith discussed Severino's unexpected antics. "The Count" hypothesized about Severino's formative years and hometown, prompting Smith to suggest this was probably not the first time the fighter had bitten someone.

"It's not the first person he's bit I'd imagine," Smith said.

"The Count" went on to suggest that Severino was arguably winning the first when he inexplicably resorted to biting his opponent. Bisping joked that had Severino been on the backfoot or locked up in a chokehold, perhaps a desperate outburst would have been more understandable.

As it stands, the Mancunian was perplexed by Severino's decision despite being in "in the driver's seat" up until that point.

"You've gotta be a certain type of person to resort to biting somebody," Bisping said. "He wasn't even getting his a** kicked, he wasn't even getting choked out, you know, like if you're getting choked out, you're like, 'You bastard,' give him a little nibble, you know what I mean? You're winning! You're in the driver's seat and you just go [mimes biting someone]."
