Frankie Edgar's Coach Talks About His Unseen Side After UFC Hall Of Fame Induction: 'They Saw Frankie Fight But They Didn't See Frankie Train...'
Jessica Alcheh-USA TODAY Sports

UFC 297 provided some excellent news for Frankie Edgar fans, as it was revealed that "The Answer" is Hall of Fame bound.

The former UFC lightweight champion is one of the co-holders for the division's record of most defenses at three. He also famously picked up a trio of victories over the legendary BJ Penn and was an incredible eight-time Fight of the Night winner.

Needless to say, his induction into the modern wing of the UFC Hall of Fame was long overdue.

Despite his remarkable dominance in his prime, "The Answer" struggled to find his footing in the closing stretch of his career, going 2-6 in his final eight appearances in the Octagon. His final bout saw him fall to Chris Gutiérrez via first-round KO at UFC 281.

'The Best Professional I've Ever Seen' - Edgar's Coach Praises 'The Answer'

During a recent appearance on the Anik & Florian Podcast, Edgar's longtime coach Mark Henry had plenty of complementary words for him. Specifically, Henry was quick to praise Edgar's professionalism.

"You know, in my eyes, you know, you're always going to see things different, you know, for someone that you've been around so much," Henry said. "I just think that people, you know, they saw Frankie fight but they didn't see Frankie train, man. He's just, you know, the best professional I've ever seen, man."

Henry also cited the positive example Edgar set for the other fighters the famed coach has worked with over the years. Overall, he sees "The Answer" as a great example of a "fighter's fighter."

"Not only that, like just having him in the room," Henry said. "Guys like, you know, Marlon Moraes, Eddie Alvarez, Katlyn Chookagian, Corey Anderson, and so on, all the great fighters that we've had, Zabit [Magomedsharipov] and just like his presence there, and him being the captain, and everybody watching him come in the earliest, leave the latest, and his work ethic. I mean, Frankie love-loved it man, like Frankie truly is a fighter's fighter. He lived it man, he didn't talk about it, he lived it, he enjoyed it, and, you know, he's just an absolute coach's dream man."
