A few weeks ago, the Wisconsin Badgers football program lost its associate head coach and wide receiver coach, Mike Brown, who moved to Notre Dame in a lateral position.

That move was finally made official this past week on social media.

The wide receiver group for the Badgers routinely expressed their fondness for Coach Brown and is now on the market for his replacement. Although Wisconsin’s WRs underperformed preseason expectations, he’s considered a fast riser in the coaching ranks — and has previous connections to several coaches who have ascended into prominent positions.

That said, Brown recently discussed his departure from Madison to join the Fighting Irish, revealing his rationale for the job change to reporters.

Why Wisconsin Football WRs Coach Mike Brown Left for Notre Dame.

After just one season with the Wisconsin football program, Mike Brown severed ties with Luke Fickell, with whom he’s worked for the last five seasons, dating back to their time with the Cincinnati Bearcats.

“It was tough to leave Wisconsin for Notre Dame, Brown said. “I was in a great place. I had a great job.”

Brown also went on to say there was only one person in the country who could pull him away from that, and it was Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman, who he also coached alongside at Cincinnati.

Freeman, now the head coach of the Fighting Irish, was the defensive coordinator at Cincinnati when they worked together. He also will work alongside Gino Guidigli, the quarterback’s coach at Notre Dame, again. The pairing worked together at both stops, although much more briefly with the Wisconsin Badgers football team.
