Wife of Longtime Seattle Mariners' Pitcher Posts Heartwarming Tribute After Husband Gets Traded

Monica Gonzales, the wife of longtime Seattle Mariners' pitcher Marco Gonzales, posted a very heartwarming tribute on Instagram following her husband being traded away from Seattle.

Marco Gonzales was traded to the Atlanta Braves earlier this offseason, and then dealt to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A user on "X" captured her post below:

"If someone had told me when Marco was drafted 10 years ago that he would spend 7 seasons with the Seattle Mariners...I wouldn't have believed it for a second. I know how wildly lucky we have been to be here for so long. Anyone in the baseball world knows how rare it is to play for your hometown, let alone be there for a majority of your career. We arrived in 2017 as babies, and we're leaving with 2 little babies of our own.

All the moments of having our family and best friends right next to me, cheering for Marco's games - I don't think I went to a single home game of his without a loved one.. or several. The incredible gift of being home with my mom and my family while she battled MSA - truly the biggest blessing of my life. To see the stands filled with people we know and love and genuinely rooting him on. Our village showing up for us as we brought home 2 in-season babies. The opportunity to serve the Seattle community we love. And the unforgettable, life long friendships we've made with our teammates and families. There aren't words enough to describe what this experience has meant to us. It's a chapter we will cherish forever, and we are leaving feeling so grateful for it all.

We will always be rooting and praying for the best for this team. - the fans and the players deserve it.

Off to our next adventure.

That's certainly a very classy way to exit, and it should be noted that she didn't mention the organization as a whole as someone she was rooting for. This was something we saw with Jarred Kelenic's goodbye post as well. Perhaps it points to a disconnect between the players and the front office.

Gonzales won 16 games for the M's in 2019, despite the team only winning 68 games. He then went 7-2 during the COVID 2020 shortened season before winning 10 more games in 2021 as the M's pushed back towards contention.

Unfortunately, he regressed in each of the last two seasons, going 10-15 with a 4.13 ERA in 2022 and pitching to a 5.22 ERA in 10 games in 2023 before shutting it down with an elbow injury.

He'll get a fresh start in Pittsburgh.
