White Sox Place Garrett Crochet on IL, Lambert Returns
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago White Sox have placed left-handed relief pitcher Garrett Crochet on the 15-day IL with left shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to June 17th. In a corresponding move, Jimmy Lambert has been reinstated from his own IL stint.

Crochet has appeared in 10 games so far for the 2023 White Sox. The lefty missed the entire 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. In those 10 appearances, Crochet owns a 3.60 ERA with nine strikeouts over 10 innings of work.

The former first-round draft pick's velocity was noticeably lower during his last appearance on June 15th in Los Angeles. His fastball which usually sits in the high 90s was topping out at 93mph and had prompted a visit from manager Pedro Grifol and trainer James Kruk. Although Crochet remained in the game to finish the outing, he had yet to appear in another ballgame following the appearance.

Jimmy Lambert returns to the White Sox bullpen after his own stint on the IL. The right-hander has been on the IL since May 29th with an ankle injury. He started a rehab assignment with the White Sox Triple-A affiliate Charlotte Knights on June 8th, and rejoins the Sox for the second game of their homestand with the Rangers.

Lambert owns a 5.91 ERA with 24 strikeouts and 13 walks over 23 appearances.
