White Sox Injury Update: Eloy Jimenez Day-to-Day, Stalling Potential Roster Move

The Chicago White Sox are without their regular DH for the time being as Eloy Jimenez is day-to-day with left adductor soreness. Jimenez suffered the injury while running to first base on a groundball in the sixth inning of Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Jimenez appeared destined for the injured list, but further testing on Monday gave the White Sox pause on making a potential roster move. Depth infielder Lenyn Sosa was reportedly in Chicago, but the team didn't add him to the roster while Jimenez underwent evaluation.

After Monday's 9-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves, manager Pedro Grifol declared Jimenez day-to-day, adding that the White Sox will play a man short for now.

Jimenez is off to a tough start to the 2024 season, going 2-for-11 through three games. During opening weekend against the Tigers, the 27-year-old squandered multiple opportunities with runners on base to deflate potential White Sox rallies.

Before the season, Jimenez posited that he wanted to play 150 games in 2024. It was always a lofty goal given his injury history, and it's now at risk with another ailment coming so early in the season.

For now, the White Sox will presumably trudge forward with Gavin Sheets at DH while Jimenez recovers. They'll be back in action Tuesday, weather permitting, against the Braves. First pitch is at 6:40 PM CT and the game will air on NBC Sports Chicago+.
